What role can effective communications and engagement play?
This webinar discusses results from a Randomised Control Trial conducted with over 30,000 participants from across Brazil, India, Japan, and South Africa. Its most notable finding - health-framed messages are twice as effective at shifting people's attitudes and policy support on climate change than non-health climate messages – offer implications for all those working at the interface of climate change and health, with lessons for the wider communications and engagement ecosystem. Dustin Gilbreath
Senior Analyst, Climate Opinion Research Exchange
Dustin Gilbreath is a Senior Analyst at the Climate Opinion Research Exchange. Previously, he served as the Deputy Research Director at CRRC-Georgia. Dustin teaches at the International School of Economics at Tbilisi State University, and previously taught at Ilia Chavchavadze State University and Batumi State University. His work has been published in a range of peer reviewed journals and his writing featured in outlets such as the Washington Post.
Jorge Coelho de Jesus
Strategic Communications and Media Consultant, GSCC
Jorge Coelho de Jesus is a Strategic Communications and Media Consultant integrating the health team at GSCC, focusing on the connection between climate change and health. He has worked for over a decade in strategic communications and public affairs at international and EU levels.
Neha Dewan
Senior Advisor, Wellcome
Neha Dewan is a Senior Adviser at Wellcome and established the Trust’s global insight programme on climate change and health to enable uptake of science and evidence into policy, public engagement and communications. Neha has over a decade of experience in global policy and foreign affairs, with a special focus on South Asia. She has worked with governments, philanthropies, UN agencies and other major multilaterals, including most recently with UNESCO. She holds an MPhil in International Relations and Politics from the University of Cambridge, a post-graduate diploma in Conflict Transformation and Peacebuilding from Delhi University, and read Political Science at Lady Shri Ram College, New Delhi. She also serves as a Fellow for think tanks across Washington D.C., the UK, India, and the UAE. Neha was awarded a UK Government-NISAU Achievers Award in 2026 for her leadership across policy, law and society.
Alan Dangour
Director, Climate and Health, Wellcome
In January 2022, Alan joined the Wellcome Trust to lead its ambitious new strategy that aims to put health at the heart of global climate change action. Alan was previously based at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine for twenty years, where he was a Professor of Food and Nutrition for Global Health and Director of the Centre on Climate Change and Planetary Health. Alan led an interdisciplinary team working on the interconnections between environmental change, food systems and health. Familiar working in national and international fora, Alan was an Expert Advisor to the Environmental Audit Committee of the UK Parliament and a Senior Research Fellow at the UK Department for International Development.
