This editorial gives a summary of a realist review exploring the working mechanisms for community engagement with health research. This work involved the reviewing the academic literature for community engagement in malaria research.
The editorial points to the importance of working relationships between researchers and community members, and describes how these relationships are influenced by the wider global health research paradigm.
