Miss Sian Aggett
About: Hi I am Sian Aggett, a public and community engagement project manager, practitioner, researcher, evaluator. I am conducting ethnographic research into the use of collaborative artistic methods as a way of developing mutual understanding between communities, public, researchers and the health issues being explored in Kathmandu (including the cultural, socio-political and structural dimensions). I have about 20 years experience in working in Science Communication and later engagement with science, a particular interest in drawing on lessons from participatory methods in development and questions of knowledge and power. I worked for the Wellcome trust for 6 years developing a community of engagement practice across the International research programmes and inspiring and growing an exciting body of projects. I am especially conscious and interested in the overlap between community engagement and ethical practice and am keen to see sensitive, respectful and considered projects that are well designed and are as much about strong processes as they are about meeting objectives.
